Did you know that the nasal mucous membrane performs one of the most relevant functions in keeping your respiratory system healthy? That is why it is essential to enable the nasal mucous membrane to perform its natural function without difficulties.

What is it all about?

It is the function of the nose to make the incoming air less harmful for the lower part of the respiratory tract. The nose serves to warm, humidify, and filter the incoming air. Small hairs inside the nostrils are there to act as filtration for the incoming air, and while they are not very efficient at screening out very tiny particulates, they do manage to keep us from inhaling some larger objects. Smaller particulates are deposited at the mucous membrane. A thin layer of mucus secreted by Bowman's glands lines all nasal surfaces and preserves humidity. The ciliary epithelium lines the nasal cavity, and cilia, protruding from the olfactory cells, beat in rhythmic waves towards the pharynx. The mucus, containing tiny particulates it has caught, therefore moves toward the pharynx, where there is either finally swallowed or expelled in an act of coughing. The ciliary epithelium of the nasal mucous membrane is capable of quick regeneration. However, it cannot withstand the effect of dehumidification, which it is so often exposed to in centrally heated and air-conditioned premises. Since in the respiratory mucosa the cilia are of so great importance in cleaning the incoming air, it is important to provide them with sufficient humidity to enable their normal activity.

How can we help ?

One of the options definitely is our new product Rinosan, a nasal spray. It is an isotonic solution in form of a spray, which, when used in nasal hygiene, serves to support and normalize the function of the nasal mucous membrane. Rinosan provides for the necessary humidity of the nasal mucosa. A dry mucous membrane induces a degenerative process in the ciliary epithelium, which is now no longer able to filter and humidify the incoming air. It is possible for harmful particles and bacteria to easily enter the area, which increases the risk of infection development.

Rinosan Spray comprises sodium, potassium, calcium, and chlorine ions. They are required for a proper activity of Bowman's cells that, by secreting mucus, are in charge of humidification and cleaning of the incoming air. Ions are transported to the membrane to form the nasal potential difference required for mucus secretion. When applied, Rinosan establishes normal secretion, enabling the locomotion of the cilia and cleaning of the air in the nasal cavity.

Rinosan contains calcium ions that are necessary for maintaining a normal porosity of nasal mucosa cellular membranes. The larger the concentration of calcium ions, the lesser the membrane porosity. There is a reduced possiblity for tiny particulates such as allergens to protrude into cells of the nasal mucosa. Additionally, calcium has an important regenerative function. If the calcium ion concentration in the extracellular fluid is too low, the damaged cellular membrane cannot heal.

Directions for use: Spray Rinosan Spray into both nostrils as required. One spray into each nostril is adequate to moisten dry mucosa. To remove dry secretion from the nose, spray into both nostrils liberally. Put absorbent cotton into the nostrils to prevent the liquid from flowing out until dry secretion softens.
It preserves the physiological function of nasal mucosa, and is suitable for infants, children, expectant mothers, and all age groups in general .
